AN ELEGANT ESSEX WEDDING - QUENDON HALL
Right, well, other than the obvious fact that Quendon is literally on my doorstep (5 miles away) so we treat it as our second home, it hand on heart is a stunning venue. If you’re after for a heritage looking manor house, with a stylish modern feel, this is the place for you.
Though I’d give a little insight into one of our most recent visits to Quendon, and quite possibly one of our favourites - with the gorgeous Joe and Damalie.
With 2 huge rooms on opposite sides of the house, getting ready on site couldn’t be easier. Joe and the squad started their day in the red suite, whilst Damilie and her girls glammed up in the bridal suite, before quickly sneaking out (in a Rolls Royce might I add) to have their religious ceremony at a nearby church.
After the most incredible, emotional and noisiest ceremony I’ve ever known, we were back at Quendon - and this is where the real party began. Before disappearing for their couples shoot, they spent 20 minutes celebrating with their bridesmaids and groomsmen in the drawing room, which was so chilled and really refreshed the couple ready for the arrival of all their guests.
It also gave us 5 minutes for some individual snaps. We’d usually do these before ceremony, but Damalie really stuck with the tradition of the bride being late… an hour was probably pushing it for poor Joe’s nerves waiting for her at the end of the aisle. But we’ll leave that there! ;)
Up next comes the couple shots… need I say more? Here’s just a few of our favourites, in various locations around Quendon.
Our personal favourite spot is tucked around the corner, where most photographers don’t tend to venture. Here you can find gorgeous red brick arches and our iconic rustic greenhouse shots…
Now this was by no means a small wedding, with a total of 250 guests by the end of the night, there really was plenty to keep us busy! Joe and D opted for an additional photographer, and what a relief they did, because it was a super busy day for us both… We had around 7 speeches, 3 bridal party games between these, traditional dances, and not to mention the outfit changes! Looking back I’m not too sure how we crammed it into 10 hours to be honest… but we did, and what a day it was.
I’ve never seen so many people on the dance floor at such early hours in the evening, I can only imagine how it was later on into the night. There aren’t many weddings we want to stay at past our allotted working hours, but if our bodies weren’t so broken, we’d have definitely partied into the night with these guys.
Oh, and can we just talk about the fact that they sat on thrones - yes, THRONES, to eat their meal? Incredible.
Can’t thank Joe and D enough for letting us be a part of their beautiful wedding day. Not very often are we lost for words, but we can’t even put into words what an amazing day this was. These guys were (and still are!) the most welcoming, down to earth and kind hearted people, and it just showed through the love and laughter by everyone throughout the entire day.
If you need advice about how to do your wedding day… just copy these guys and you won’t go wrong!
I feel like that was a really soppy ending to a blog? Very unlike me… apologies. To sum up in a non cringe way, Joe and D’s wedding was f*cking cool.
